Question

What are Pueblo houses called?

The settlements themselves are called pueblos — Spanish for village. A single structure inside one is often called a Pueblo house or Pueblo dwelling. In the Southwest the same building is often simply called an adobe. Anglo Americans and the National Park Service distinguish three things. The first is an inhabited Indigenous Pueblo such as Taos Pueblo or Acoma Pueblo. The second is an archaeological Ancestral Puebloan ruin such as Chaco or Mesa Verde. The third is a twentieth-century Pueblo Revival home that imitates the original form. The Washington State DAHP catalog files Pueblo Revival under Spanish Pueblo or Santa Fe style.
